Ms. Walia specializes in conducting HIPAA Privacy and Security assessment and compliance remediation projects, as well as Medicaid enrollment and eligibility assessments. In addition, Ms. Walia assists organizations with various activities such as compliance program development, Medicare claims review, and auditing and monitoring of specific high risk areas. Ms. Walia leads various risk assessment and auditing and monitoring projects, including serving as the SM Project Manager for various health care compliance management tools. Ms. Walia directs the SM Regulatory Team in researching and analyzing regulatory and industry information for use in the development and fulfillment of specific projects, including the deployment of programs and tools to both implement and evaluate regulatory compliance. In this capacity, her responsibilities also include maintaining up-to-date awareness of federal regulatory and policy initiatives with the health care industry. She has been published in various industry trade publications and journals, including the Journal of Health Care Compliance. Prior to joining SM, Ms. Walia served as a statistical analyst at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) where she provided statistical assistance and support. She has also worked in the office of the state Senate Majority Leader in Georgia. Ms. Walia holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, and a Bachelor of Science from Emory University. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. |
