Dr. Parikh, who began his career as an orthopedic surgeon in India and England, added to his medical training by completing a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Nassau County Medical Center (East Meadow, NY). He received his board certification in this specialty in 1990.
At that time, Dr. Parikh joined Kessler and focused his attention on orthopedic and sports rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, electromyography, and neck and back pain. He also oversees outpatient services at Kessler's Saddle Brook facility.
Dr. Parikh is actively involved in various research projects on back pain and associated disorders, orthopedic rehabilitation, nerve block and spasticity, electromyography, and balance and vestibular rehabilitation. He has authored many articles and abstracts for peer review publications, and wrote the chapter on "Vestibular Rehabilitation" for the textbook, Rehabilitation Medicine Principles and Practice in 1998. He also serves on the faculty of the New Jersey Medical School. |
