Shailendra Gupta serves as senior vice president of Ingram Micro Inc. and president of Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific. Named to the position in August 2007, Gupta is responsible for the company’s operations in Asia-Pacific with the exception of the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.
Prior to joining Ingram Micro, Gupta spent nine years with Tech Pacific Group, starting in 1995 as managing director of India. He was later promoted to chief executive officer in 2001. Tech Pacific Group was one of Asia-Pacific’s largest technology distributors, generating AUD$3.1 billion in revenue (based on Australian GAAP) for the 2003 fiscal year.
When Ingram Micro acquired Tech Pacific in 2004, Gupta joined Ingram Micro as chief operating officer of Ingram Micro Asia-Pacific, and successfully led the complex integration process of Tech Pacific with Ingram Micro.
Prior to his work with Ingram Micro and Tech Pacific, Gupta worked for 10 years in Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd., India, a large diversified Indian conglomerate. During his tenure, he held various management roles, including a manufacturing plant responsibility.
Gupta earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1983 from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and an MBA in 1985 from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, both premier Indian institutes. |
