Sergio Bent focuses his practice on employment law and client counseling. He represents a wide variety of corporate and public sector clients in all aspects of employment litigation, wage and hour litigation, and employment related arbitration proceedings. Sergio's experience includes successfully defending employers in civil and administrative proceedings involving wrongful termination, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour claims.
Recently, Sergio prepared the opening brief in a matter before the California Court of Appeal, which resulted in the reversal of a million dollar jury verdict against his client. The appeal also resulted in Sergio's client receiving an award of costs in excess of $100,000. Sergio has prepared over 200 appeals.
Sergio has also conducted independent investigations on behalf of his clients and has successfully handled numerous administrative hearings for public sector clients regarding employee discipline. He was selected in 2005 and 2006 as a "Southern California Super Lawyers - Rising Star" by Law & Politics, a division of Key Professional Media, Inc.
During law school, Sergio was a member of the Howard Scroll: Social Justice Law Review. He also served as the Parliamentarian on the Executive Board for the class of 1995. In addition, Sergio was a member of the Admissions Committee.
