Sepehr Fariabi, PhD, Vice-President of Research and Development, brings 20 years and extensive technical and management experience in complex interventional and minimally invasive devices. Prior to Nfocus, he was Senior Vice-President of R&D at Biosensors International, a drug eluting stent (DES) company. He has served as Senior Director in Heart Valve Therapy for Edwards Lifesciences, where he was responsible for a team working on advanced materials for heart valve, stent and complex catheter design. Sepehr was also COO/VP at Advanced Stent Technologies where he was responsible for the design of the AST bifurcation stent (acquired by Boston Scientific Corporation). He has also served as VP R&D for Oratec Interventions and as Dir R&D for the Vascular Therapies Division of US Surgical Corporation. Sepehr holds over 30 issued and pending patents in advanced medical materials such as hollow shape memory alloy (nitinol) and cobalt-chromium stents. Dr Fariabi holds a Master Science Management degree from Stritch College (Milwaukee), a PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Houston, a Master of Science for Materials Science from the University of Manchester, U.K., and a Metallurgical Engineering degree from AryaMehr (Tehran). |
