Senwan H. Akhtar is an associate in the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, focusing on commercial real estate transactions. Before joining the firm, Senwan worked in the real estate department at Greenbaum Rowe Smith & Davis in Woodbridge, N.J. Senwan has also practiced at firms in New York and Connecticut.
Senwan represents sellers and buyers in all aspects of property acquisitions and dispositions, including office and commercial buildings, industrial facilities, shopping centers, residential developments and redevelopment projects. Her experience includes the representation of developers in joint venture agreements involving the purchase and development of real estate, and the representation of parties engaging in tax-deferred like-kind exchanges. She also represents landlords and tenants in the negotiation and preparation of commercial leases both in New Jersey and throughout the United States. In addition, Senwan represents a wide variety of financial institutions and borrowers in complex loan transactions, including construction loans, term loans, lines of credit and loan restructuring.
In General. Senwan has a bachelor's degree in finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She earned a J.D. from the New York University School of Law, where she was article and note editor of the Journal of International Law and Politics. She was also a recipient of the John J. Galgay Fellowship in Bankruptcy and Reorganization Law, and a scholarship from the American Association of University Women. While attending law school, Senwan worked as a judicial intern for the Hon. Burton R. Lifland, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, S.D.N.Y. |
