As senior vice president and leader of the services business group for Best Buy Co., Inc., a multinational retailer of technology and entertainment products and services, Sean Skelley directs one of the key growth strategies for the global retailer’s business: creating new and transformational business growth through services.
Skelley’s focus on developing and providing superior customer service capabilities is essential to maintaining Best Buy’s leadership in technology and entertainment retailing. His responsibilities include developing a global services strategy and growing the services business in all parts of the world as customers’ lifestyles and needs change.
Skelley also directed a multi-year effort that transformed Best Buy’s service portfolio from a fiscal loss into a multi-million dollar profit in 2003. His charge to find service efficiencies drastically reduced product repair times from days to hours.
Skelley has dedicated his career to the retail industry. Since 1988, Skelley has served the Best Buy team in several capacities including: senior merchant, district manager, regional manager and, prior to becoming vice president, director of Best Buy services.
In 2002, Skelley led Best Buy’s acquisition of Geek Squad, a unit that offers complete computer services in the home or workplace, 24 hours per day. He also directed the rollout of Geek Squad into Best Buy stores across the United States and Canada. In 2005, he directed the acquisition of AudioVisions, a high-end custom electronics design and installation business in Southern California.
Skelley’s leadership and innovation have been recognized by Best Buy through its prestigious Chairman’s Award in 2003 and the Pinnacle Award for Leadership in 2004. Skelley was also honored by Dealerscope magazine’s Forty under 40 award.
In his spare time, Skelley is involved with his children’s extra-curricular activities and enjoys coaching, reading, and participating in sports. |
