Sean Monaghan has been a member of the firm’s Environmental Practice Group since 1990. Prior to that time, Sean concentrated in the areas of real estate and corporate law. His environmental law practice includes regulatory compliance, transactions and litigation. He especially concentrates on site remediation issues, including New Jersey’s Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA). His real estate and corporate law background has prepared him to handle environmental aspects of complex real estate and commercial transactions.
Sean is a member of the American Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association. Sean is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association’s Environmental Law and Corporate and Business Law Sections. He is a member of the Environmental Committee of the Corporate and Business Law Section. Sean is also a member of the National Brownfields Association and the Regional Plan Association, where he serves on the Association’s New Jersey Committee.
Sean lectures to business and professional groups on various topics. He has authored papers on lender liability under the federal Superfund law and environmental issues for borrowers. He has co-authored papers with other members of Drinker Biddle’s Environmental Law Practice Group on environmental transfer laws including ISRA as well as incentives and protections for prospective purchasers and operators of contaminated property. He co-authored the New Jersey chapter of the treatise Brownfields published by the American Bar Association.
Sean received his J.D. with honors from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1983 and his bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1979. |
