Seán McNulty is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP, based in its London office. He is a member of the Pensions and Incentives Group, where his practice focuses on pensions law in the UK.
Seán advises on all aspects of UK pensions law including the pensions aspects of mergers and acquisitions, the implementation of contingent asset arrangements for Pension Protection Fund purposes, advising and drafting in relation to scheme documentation, compliance with the Pensions Act 2004 and the pensions aspects of the Finance Act 2004 and general on-going advice in relation to schemes. He advises both employers and trustees of pensions schemes across a range of industry sectors.
Seán is an Associate Member of the Association of Pension Lawyers.
Prior to joining McDermott, Seán worked in the pensions team at another leading international law firm. Seán has also worked for nearly three years in two other leading UK pensions practises.
Representative Experience
Undertaking a due diligence exercise and advising a company based in South East Asia in relation to the purchase of a UK company which involved pensions liabilities of around £200m
Advising in relation to a protocol for communication between an overseas purchaser and the trustees of a UK final salary pension scheme
Advising in relation to a Deed of Amendment to close a UK final salary pension scheme to future benefit accrual
Advising in relation to the drafting of definitive trust deeds and rules and related documentation
Advising generally in relation to a wide variety of scheme documentation
