Scott Umstead joined First Allied Securities, Inc. in 2008 as National Sales Manager. He is responsible for overseeing the National Sales Team, as well as the Transitions and Recruiting departments. Prior to First Allied, Mr. Umstead was President and CEO of Sweetwater Asset Management, LLC, a registered investment advisory firm. During this leadership tenure, he identified a niche opportunity to acquire an asset management firm and subsequently grew it sixteen-fold in just over two years. Mr. Umstead also served as President of the Eastern Division and Executive Vice President of the Private Client Group at Wachovia Securities, LLC, which merged with Prudential Securities in 2003. He was responsible for leadership and supervision of the company’s six Eastern domestic regions and the Latin American region. Together, the regions comprised more than 400 branch offices, 4,400 financial advisors, and $1.5 billion in revenue. Mr. Umstead has had outstanding recruiting success throughout his career, actually forcing competing broker/dealers to close offices in certain markets, and personally brought in Prudential Securities’ largest retail recruit. He was also instrumental in moving the firm from the depths of major losses to profitability within two years. He currently holds NASD Series 6, 7, 8, 63 and 65 licenses, as well as a license in life and health insurance. |
