Current Position: Executive Vice President and General Counsel of CenterPoint Energy. Besides his responsibilities for the legal affairs of the company, Rozzell is also responsible for CenterPoint’s government affairs, corporate communications, community relations, corporate compliance and internal audit functions.
Previous Positions: Before beginning his career at CenterPoint Energy in 2001, he was a senior partner and chair of the Energy Department at the Houston office of Baker Botts.
Education and Accreditation: Rozzell has a bachelor of arts degree from Southern Methodist University and a doctor of jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas School of Law.
Affiliations and Honors: He is a former president of the Houston Bar Association, past director of the State Bar of Texas and past Chair of the Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a past Chair and Sustaining Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Association, and a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Rozzell currently serves as Chairman of the Association of Electric Companies of Texas and is on the Boards of Directors of Houston Community College System Foundation; the Manned Space Flight Education Foundation Inc.; the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame; the Federal Relations and the Government Relations Advisory Committees of the Greater Houston Partnership; and the Southern Regional Advisory Board of the Institute of International Education. He is listed in Who’s Who in American Law, The Best Lawyers in America and the World’s Leading Lawyers.Texas Monthly named him a Texas Super Lawyer for both 2004 and 2005 and the Houston Business Journal selected him as Houston’s outstanding General Counsel (large company category) for 2005.
Personal: Rozzell is a native of Wake Village, Texas. He is a widower with two grown daughters, Stacey Murphree, a teacher, and Kimberly Rozzell, a lawyer. |
