Scott Lane’s experience in the oil and fuels distribution industry dates back to 1972 when he worked as a driver and warehouseman for Young Oil Company, which at the time was a small oil and fuels distributor in Pompano Beach, Florida. Moving quickly from the warehouse to sales, sales manager and then general manager, Mr. Lane and a co-worker, George Knopp, purchased the business from the original owner William Young in 1985. With Mr. Lane at its helm, the company quickly grew and in 1994, merged with a competitor to become one of the largest oil and fuels distributors in the southeastern United States. Today it is an exclusive ExxonMobil distributor and operates three facilities throughout South Florida including Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Mr. Lane was a member of Mobil’s and ExxonMobil’s National Lubricant Distributor Advisory Council and Steering Committee from 1989 through 2003, and served as president of the council for two separate terms.
