Scott Kaats is the Chief Executive Officer of Bycor General Contractors, Inc., one of San Diego's leading general contractors specializing in commercial construction for a variety of clients.
Growing up with a grandfather in construction had a tremendous influence on Kaats' professional life. Early mentoring by a hands-on tradesman instilled in him a strong set of values and solid business ethics that he implements into his own business practices. The importance of quality construction and earnest customer service has been a guiding philosophy for Kaats at Bycor over the last 20 years.
After earning a bachelor of arts degree in law from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Kaats returned to his construction roots as a commercial general contractor in 1978. During that time he developed a friendship with Rich Byer that brought the two into joint venture projects, ultimately leading up to the formation of Bycor. As a principal in charge on projects, Kaats remains a very hands-on manager working closely with the entire Bycor team and providing input on a daily basis.
Kaats is active in both professional and community organizations. He is a member of the board for the Monarch High School Project, overseeing the building of a high school for homeless teenagers downtown, and is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (N.A.I.O.P.). Kaats resides in Encinitas with his wife, Diane, and his two children, Lisa and Greg. |
