Scott Dyer is Executive Vice President of Production and Development for Nelvana Limited. Mr. Dyer joined the Nelvana family in 1997 after the studio acquired the Dyer-produced pilot of Emmy Award-winning CGI series Rolie Polie Olie.
After launching Nelvana's 3-D production group and managing its IT and Interactive divisions, Mr. Dyer took on leadership of the studio in 1998. In his current role, Mr. Dyer guides the creative vision and technological development of Nelvana's high-calibre team of animators, developers and producers.
Trained as a mathematician at Carnegie Mellon University, Mr. Dyer entered the animation business after spending three years in Utah working on visual systems for flight simulators. His first industry career saw him producing commercial effects for television at Cranston/Csuri Productions-one of the original computer animation companies.
Expertise in that field led Mr. Dyer to a professorship at Ohio State University, where he spent four years running a research group that applied computer animation to the science at The Ohio Supercomputer Center. Mr. Dyer hung his own production shingle with a group of partners in 1993, serving as president of Windlight Studios. |
