Scott Chaikin is chairman and chief executive officer of Dix & Eaton Incorporated, the nation’s largest employee-owned public relations and investor relations firm.
In addition to his management responsibilities, Mr. Chaikin provides counsel on a broad range of communications issues to top management at many leading companies and institutions. He is frequently called upon to provide a broad array of strategic counsel and to help address the sensitive communications involved in dealing with high-impact issues such as corporate crises, financial challenges and major corporate change events. These activities have included CEO succession planning and positioning for companies such as KeyCorp and PolyOne; proxy fights involving Dairy Mart and First Union Real Estate; legal and regulatory issues facing Lincoln Electric, Diebold and Ferro; and major acquisitions affecting American Greetings, Geon, M.A. Hanna Company, National City Corporation and Diebold.
Mr. Chaikin serves on the board of the Musical Arts Association (Cleveland Orchestra) and chairs its Corporate Council; serves on the boards of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum and the Cleveland Commission on Economic Partnerships and Inclusion; and is an advisory board member of the Weatherhead School of Management, an associate member of The Presidents’ Council and an alumnus of the Leadership Cleveland program. He also sits on the board and compensation committee of ComDoc, one of the nation’s largest independent technology providers.
An award-winning writer, Mr. Chaikin earned a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College and had experience in public relations, journalism and fiction writing before joining Dix & Eaton in 1986. |
