Dr Harkonen is the Chairman of the board of directors and Chief Executive Officer of CoTherix. Dr. Harkonen joined CoTherix as Chairman of the Board in April 2001 and became Chief Executive Officer in October 2003. From 1999 to 2003, Dr. Harkonen founded and was President and Chief Executive Officer of InterMune, Inc., a public company engaged in the development of therapeutics for life-threatening pulmonary, hepatic and infectious diseases. From 1995 to 1999, Dr. Harkonen served as Senior Vice President, Product Development and Operations at Connetics Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company. From 1991 to 1995, Dr. Harkonen was Vice President of Medical and Regulatory Affairs at Univax Corporation (now NABI), a biopharmaceutical company. He is on the board of directors of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and a member of the Emerging Company Governance Section of BIO. Dr. Harkonen holds B.A. and M.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. |
