Scott Davis is a member of the Bricker & Eckler construction law group and focuses his practice entirely on the construction industry including project delivery methods, contract issues, litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Prior to becoming an attorney, Scott worked for several construction companies, both in the field as a project engineer and as a construction estimator.
Representative Experience
Scott has developed a niche practice in the area of roofing and building envelope systems having been in more than 15 cases over the past two years involving asphalt shingle, single-ply, clay tile, metal and built-up roofing systems
Represented school district in claim against general trades contractor to have a metal roofing system replaced when numerous roof leaks developed throughout the building
Defended general trades contractor against claims of a subcontractor stemming from lack of payment
Advised construction manager on project delivery methods for public construction projects in Ohio and strategies to enter new target market areas within the state
Represented public library in claims against general trades contractor for defective work and project delays
Represented Central Ohio school district in claim against sitework contractor and bonding company when underground piping collapsed causing sinkholes in parking lot
Defended construction manager against negligence claims from a pedestrian that was injured while on the jobsite
Represented public school district in contract negotiations with program manager for capital improvements project
Represented public school district in Southwestern Ohio in claims against HVAC contractor for defective work
Experienced in construction management, including project delivery methods, project insurance and bonding methods, project general requirements analysis, project safety requirements, project administration and staffing requirements and analysis, bid strategy development, construction contract documents, MBE solicitation and coordination, subcontractor solicitation, value engineering, project risk analysis, project scope letters and document control
Experience working in the estimating department of a construction company, including compiling lump sum competitive bids, construction management budgets and project schedules. Performed labor productivity analysis of projects ranging from $745,000 to $35 million
Served as a health and water sanitation volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps in West Africa
