Dr. Scott W. Tinker, age 48, was appointed to our Board of Directors in December 2007. Dr. Tinker is the Director of the Bureau of Economic Geology at The University of Texas at Austin. Scott is President Elect of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a member of the National Petroleum Council, and has done two Distinguished Lecture tours for AAPG and one for SPE. Dr. Tinker is the State Geologist of Texas, past President of the Association of American State Geologists, and a Professor in UT's Department of Geological Sciences where he holds the Allday Endowed Chair. Scott is a member of the Executive Committee of the Jackson School of Geosciences. Prior to joining the Bureau in January 2000, Dr. Tinker spent 17 years as a geologist in various capacities in the oil and gas industry. Most recently, Scott was with Marathon Oil's Petroleum Technology Center in Littleton, Colorado, where he built 3-D models of large oil and gas fields. Dr. Tinker holds a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, a M.S. from the University of Michigan and a B.S. from Trinity University. |
