Scott Ford is president and chief executive officer for Alltel, a customer-focused communications company with more than 15 million customers and nearly $10 billion in annual revenues. Alltel provides wireless, local telephone, long-distance, satellite TV, Internet and high-speed data services to residential and business customers in 36 states.
Ford joined Alltel in 1996 as executive vice president, with responsibility for Alltel’s communications businesses, as well as the company’s corporate staff functions. He was named president in 1997. In 1998, he assumed the additional duties of chief operating officer and was named CEO in July 2002.
Prior to joining Alltel, Ford was employed at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock, Ark., from 1986 to 1996, where he served as assistant to the chairman. In this capacity, Ford spearheaded the firm’s acquisition efforts in the media and communications industries.
Prior to joining Stephens, he worked in the corporate finance and merger and acquisitions area of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets in New York.
Ford has a degree in finance from the University of Arkansas.
Throughout his business career, Ford has been active in his community. He is currently a member of several civic and business organizations. He is Chairman of the Board of the Little Rock Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and Chairman of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA). He and his wife have three sons and are involved in sports ranging from roping to baseball and golf.
