Scott Pearson concentrates his practice in complex commercial litigation, including class actions, unfair competition cases, director and officer claims, intellectual property disputes and other significant matters.
Mr. Pearson has extensive experience representing financial services and other companies in consumer class actions and cases brought under consumer protection statutes such as California’s Unfair Competition Law and Consumers Legal Remedies Act. He regularly advises clients on various regulatory, privacy and arbitration issues, including the enforceability of class action waivers.
Mr. Pearson also represents private equity and securities firms; biomedical, computer and aerospace equipment manufacturers; real estate companies and retailers in complex litigation. He encourages clients to assess cases early for opportunities to resolve them through motion practice or favorable settlements, but successfully has handled numerous arbitrations and trials.
Mr. Pearson is actively engaged in litigation reform efforts. Among other things, he helped draft Proposition 64, an initiative measure which significantly reformed California’s Unfair Competition Law.
Before joining Stroock, Mr. Pearson was an extern law clerk to the Honorable Alicemarie H. Stotler of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Pearson managed political campaigns and directed lobbying and communications programs in California.
