Scott DeLong is chief financial officer and serves on the board of directors of KMG America Corporation, a public holding company that commenced operations in December 2004. He is responsible for overseeing the financial management of all company operations including strategic planning.
Previously, Mr. DeLong spent three years self-employed while he prepared for his current role; in particular, he was instrumental in the acquisition in December 2004 of employee benefit insurer Kanawha Insurance Company and its subsidiary Kanawha HealthCare Solutions, Inc., a third party administrator, as well as the preparation and completion of the successful initial public offering that raised capital for the acquisition.
From 1998 to 2000, Mr. DeLong was vice president, Corporate Development of ReliaStar Financial Corp. He served as vice president, Corporate Actuary for the company from 1990 to 1998. He served in various management and actuarial roles for ReliaStar between 1980 and 1990, becoming second vice president and corporate actuary in 1986. Mr. DeLong began his insurance career in 1971 as an actuarial trainee for Aetna Life Insurance Company, where he was employed primarily in the employee benefits division until 1980.
Mr. DeLong completed the executive management program at Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with minors in physics and economics from Macalester College. He has been a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries since 1976 and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries since 1977. |
