Scott F. Wetterhall, MD, MPH, is senior program director of Health Security and Systems Research at RTI. His research interests include public health surveillance, bioterrorism and emergency preparedness, and program evaluation. Prior to joining RTI, Dr. Wetterhall spent more than 20 years as a medical epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). From 1999 to 2004, as a CDC assignee, he founded and served as senior medical director of the DeKalb County, Georgia, Center for Public Health Preparedness. Dr. Wetterhall has consulted with several Fortune 500 companies regarding the application of public health surveillance to improving product warranty processes. He has authored or coauthored more than 50 scientific publications in a wide range of areas, including community preparedness and use of surveillance during the 1996 Summer Olympics. Dr. Wetterhall is board certified in internal medicine and preventive medicine, and is an adjunct associate professor of epidemiology in Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. |
