As Vice President for Specialty Chemicals, Scott Fuson leads Dow Corning’s activities to support customers in a wide range of market sectors in the US from paper processing and chemical manufacturing to personal care and textiles.
He brings to this role extensive experience in implementing business and marketing strategies that have helped transform Dow Corning’s ability to meet customer needs and generated significant growth opportunities.
Fuson joined Dow Corning in 1982 as a field sales representative in New Jersey, where he grew his sales territory nearly tenfold, making it the largest for Dow Corning in the United States. When he was named business development and innovation manager in 1989, he took a proactive approach to ensuring continued growth and productivity by initiating company-wide changes in marketing planning and strategy development.
Three years later, Fuson led the Technologies for Medical Devices Product Market Process Team (PMPT) in Healthcare Industries. By applying his business acumen and proven team-building skills, he helped establish the business as a leader in both profit and sales growth. In 1995, he moved to France as European Industry Director for Healthcare; a role in which he launched several innovative new product lines and technologies, expanding options for customer solutions, while reducing operating costs of the business by approximately 40 percent.
Returning to the US, he became global marketing manager for Dow Corning’s strategic intelligence and new business market development unit. In 2001 he was appointed executive director of marketing, sales and customer service and was elected a corporate vice president in 2005. In this role he led teams that re-defined Dow Corning’s service and solutions offerings based on detailed assessment of customer needs. He was involved in the early stages of Xiameter®, a revolutionary web-based business model that addresses the specialized needs of identified market segments. He also led Dow Corning’s activity to integrate all customer-facing activities including eCommerce.
In addition to his role as Vice President for Specialty Chemicals, he is also Global Executive director for the Life Sciences industry.
