Scott E. Eckas is a partner in McKee Nelson’s Business Litigation Group. Mr. Eckas has represented clients in a wide range of commercial litigation disputes, with a particular emphasis on matters affecting the financial services industry. In addition, he has substantial experience in regulatory matters and bankruptcy court litigation.
Recent representative matters in which Mr. Eckas served as legal counsel include:
Defending an investment bank in an action arising out of a failed CDO transaction;
Defending an international wireless communications company against claims by a creditors committee in bankruptcy court;
Representing an international staffing company in Chapter 11 liquidation proceedings;
Representing an investment bank in bankruptcy court in connection with a complex claim arising out of financing agreements related to a bond issuance by the debtor;
Defending an investment bank in an action regarding obligations under swap agreements;
Representing an investment bank in numerous actions involving pools of mortgages; and
Defending former directors and officers in a securities class action relating to a failed oil and gas exploration company.
Mr. Eckas has been recognized in the current edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers For Business in the area of securities litigation in New York.
While at University of Colorado, Boulder, Mr. Eckas was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
