Sarah Brown is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, Sarah focuses her practice on e-business, technology transactions, trademarks and IP portfolio management. Sarah also assists with trademark and copyright prosecution and litigation. Sarah's specific experience is in the field of internet-related problems, including all aspects of website operation and protection, investigation and enforcement of IP rights on the internet and privacy protection. She protects client trademarks on the Internet through surveillance and enforcement and has won a number of successful domain name disputes. Sarah also has significant experience in technology licensing, and in assessing technology and license portfolios for clients considering a merger, acquisition, or other asset purchase.
Prior to practicing law, Sarah was the founder and president of an independent research and consulting firm that provided service to lobbyist and political fundraisers. As part of this work, Sarah assisted Senator Orrin Hatch’s National Finance Director with a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign. She also participated in lobbying efforts on behalf of several large defense contractors and has experience in tracking Defense and Intelligence Authorization and Appropriations legislation.
Sarah also served as a staff assistant to Majority Leader Bob Dole.
Sarah is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
