Ms. Thornton is a Policy Advisor in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Washington, D.C., office and a member of the Government Relations Group. Ms. Thornton provides government relations support in the areas of energy, environment, antitrust, economic development, emerging technology and education. Ms. Thornton comes to Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck with an extensive background in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Thornton was a legislative assistant for Representative Mike McIntyre (D-NC). Ms. Thornton also worked as a legislative assistant for Representative Shelley Berkley (D-NV). In that role, she handled issues such as housing, tax and budget. She was also responsible for staffing the Congresswoman in her role as the chair of the Democratic Caucus Tax and Budget Task Force. In addition, Ms. Thornton worked in the government affairs department at the Mortgage Bankers Association where she monitored federal legislation and regulations affecting the mortgage banking industry and drafted a weekly publication that was disseminated to association members. She also served on the Senate Small Business Committee for Senator John Kerry (D-MA) and on the Senate Banking Committee for Senator Paul Sarbanes (D-MD). Ms. Thornton is currently working toward a law degree from American University’s Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. |
