Sara Fields is senior vice president for the office of the chairman for United. She is based at the company's headquarters in Chicago.
Named to the position in May 2006, she is responsible for special assignments at the chairman’s discretion, critical to the continued success and effectiveness of the company. She reports to Chairman, President and CEO Glenn Tilton. In this role, she assumes ongoing responsibility for supporting, as required, the implementation of decisions and actions made by the chairman and/or the Executive Council.
Prior to assuming her current position, she was senior vice president of People, where she was responsible for United's Human Resource functions worldwide, including labor relations, personnel policies and issues, benefits and compensation. She was also focused on the integration and coordination of activities related to governance, executive leadership and development and succession planning.
Before that, Fields served as senior vice president of Onboard Service where she was responsible for the training, scheduling and management of flight attendants. In addition, she was also responsible for inflight service design and delivery, as well as United's entire catering operation. Fields, who joined United in 1963 as a flight attendant, has held various management positions within the company, including manager of flight attendant training, manager of the flight attendant domicile in Denver, manager of Industrial Relations, director of Inflight Service - International, director of Employee Relations and vice president of Inflight Service.
Fields serves as a board member for Airline Personnel Directors Conference (APDC), Junior Achievement of Chicago, United Airlines Foundation and United Airlines Employee Relief Fund. |
