Sandra Klaasse is Vice President, LEAN SixSigma for OMNOVA Solutions Inc. Having been appointed to this position in December 2002, she is currently in charge of the implementation of LEAN SixSigma across the corporation.
Ms. Klaasse’s background in operations, product-line management and technical marketing make her uniquely qualified to champion this business approach within OMNOVA, which demands close cross-functional teaming to identify and optimize those things that are critical to the customer and to eliminate waste and variation within the Company’s business processes. Prior to this position, she served in several critical roles within OMNOVA, including Vice President, Manufacturing Operations; General Manager Functional Coatings; and Vice President, Paper Chemicals for the Company’s Performance Chemicals business segment. OMNOVA Solutions had $810 million in sales in 2005.
Ms. Klaasse joined OMNOVA Solutions’ former parent, GenCorp, in 1990 as a Technical Service Engineer in the paper chemicals group and proceeded through several positions including Senior Process Engineer, Pilot Plant Manager and Director of Operations for OMNOVA’s Mogadore, Ohio latex facility.
Prior to joining GenCorp, Ms. Klaasse held positions in Technical Service Engineering for Firestone Synthetic Rubber & Latex Company and Ashland Chemical Company.
Ms. Klaasse is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she earned her bachelor of science degree in Chemical Engineering. She is a Trustee of the OMNOVA Solutions Foundation.
