Sandra J. McLelland represents management in various employment law matters, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, wrongful discharge, defamation and other employment torts, employment agreements, wage and hour issues, unemployment, mediation, Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act ("ADEA"),, Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") accommodation claims and other matters. Ms. McLelland also counsels employers in the areas of human resource management, personnel practices and policies, handbooks, employment agreements, severance arrangements, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, Title VII, ADA, Family and Medical Leave Act ("FMLA"), Fair Labor Standards Act ("FLSA"), and equal employment opportunity policy compliance, sexual harassment investigations and other sensitive issues. She also represents management with respect to traditional labor matters, including unit determinations, union elections, and unfair labor practice charges. She represents employers in labor and employment litigation in federal and state court, in arbitration, and before administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Before joining Miles & Stockbridge, Ms. McLelland was a litigation lawyer with DLA Piper in its Baltimore, MD office. Prior to that she clerked for the Honorable William D. Quarles, Jr., United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Sandra is a 2004 Honors graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, where she served as a Teaching Assistant for the Legal Writing Program, and as an Employment Law Research Assistant. Prior to attending law school, Sandra was a Human Resources Manager and a Recruiting Manager. In her previous employment, Sandra has had extensive first-hand experience handling employees and various employment related matters, including hiring, investigations, disability issues, and terminations.
