Allen joined the company in 1975 as an industrial engineer. He has held management positions in the areas of production control, manufacturing, supply management, and operations at John Deere Horicon Works, Des Moines Works, Dubuque Works, Davenport Works, and Waterloo Engine Works. He was instrumental in the planning and implementation of John Deere's engine manufacturing facility in Torreon, Mexico.
Allen also served as Manager, Worldwide Engine Manufacturing Operations for John Deere Power Systems, and in August 1999 was appointed Vice President, Region I (Latin America, Australia and Asia) of the Worldwide Agricultural Equipment Division. He was appointed Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources, Industrial Relations and Corporate Communications in August 2001. That was followed with expanded responsibilities as President, Global Financial Services in January 2003 and John Deere Power Systems in November 2003. Allen assumed his current responsibility for the company's Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division in March 2005, while retaining his John Deere Power Systems and Corporate Human Resources duties.
Allen is a 1975 graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree in industrial management. He is a native of Sumter, South Carolina.
