Samuel H. Miller serves as co-chairman of the board and treasurer of Forest City Enterprises Inc. A key stakeholder since 1947 Miller has overseen various areas of Forest City. He is particularly credited with spearheading the company’s move into land development.
In addition to his commitment to Forest City Miller is actively engaged in the Cleveland community and is a nationally recognized leader in the Jewish community. Miller has served on the board of trustees of the following organizations: Station WVIZ Urban League Jewish National Fund Baldwin Wallace College Crime Stoppers Police Memorial Medical Mutual of Ohio Cleveland State University and Catholic Diocese of Cleveland Foundation. He is a Lifetime Honorary Trustee of the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland and National Conference of Christians and Jews and an Honorary Trustee of Case Western Reserve University. He also participates in Greater Cleveland Roundtable and serves on the board of directors and executive committee of The Cleveland Clinic.
Miller is the National Chairman of the United Jewish Appeal and past chairman of Israel Bonds and of the Cleveland Jewish Welfare Fund. He also acted as Foreman of the County Grand Jury from 1974 to 1987.
He has received numerous honors and awards over the last three decades most notably the Distinguished Service Award of Medical Hall of Fame (2003) Ellis Island Medal of Honor Award (2001) American Red Cross National Humanitarian Award (1993) and National Conference of Christians and Jews Award (1985). He holds honorary doctorate degrees from Baldwin Wallace College Cleveland Academy of Medicine Cleveland State University John Carroll University Ursuline College and Notre Dame College.
Miller is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University and has an MBA from Harvard Business School. He also served the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. |
