Salil is the executive vice president of ESPN Enterprises, a unit that consists of ESPN's new media, consumer product, and mobile businesses. He joined ESPN in 2005, after an 11 year stint in The Walt Disney Company's Corporate Strategic Planning. Salil left as executive vice president of corporate business development and strategic planning to join ESPN, which is 80% owned by Disney. The Walt Disney Company is one of the Foundation's first partners, with a relationship that began in 1981. Salil's service on the Make-A-Wish National Board (a position to which he was appointed in April 2003) is fueled in part by his desire to honor his 3-year-old cousin, Pooja Mehta, who succumbed to cancer a number of years ago. His work in the nonprofit arena also includes service on the Fulbright Association National Board and prior support of Girls Inc. Los Angeles. Salil and his family currently reside in New York City. |
