Ryu Fushimi of Yokohama, Japan, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Fushimi is the chairperson of 14 companies, including a security company.
A member of the Yokohama Minato Marine Lions Club since 1976, Director Fushimi has held many offices within the association, including club secretary, club president, district extension chair, district steering committee chair, multiple district chair and district governor. Additionally, as district governor, he helped charter seven new clubs and highly contributed to membership development.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including six International President’s Awards and an Extension Award. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions awards, Director Fushimi has received numerous civic awards, including the Kanagawa Community Service Award and Headquarters of Kanagawa Police Award from the governor of Kanagawa Prefecture. In recognition of his achievements in sports and martial arts, he received the Testimonial of Japan Sports Association and the Yomiuri Syoriki Sports Award.
Director Fushimi and his wife, Tomoko, also a member of the Yokohama Minato Marine Lions Club, have three children and four grandchildren. |
