Ruth Kalla Ungerer, director of development, is responsible for expanding the Population Council's fundraising efforts and strengthening donor relations. Throughout her career, Ungerer has worked directly with top level policy leaders, public intellectuals, and individuals in business and government. She has considerable experience in strategic planning, corporate and foundation grantsmanship, major individual donor solicitation, and volunteer leadership relationship building.
Immediately prior to joining the Council in September 2001, she served as vice president for development for New School University in New York City. Preceding her work with the New School, Ungerer directed "Private Initiatives for a Global Future: The Campaign for Montclair State University." Prior to that she served as director of development and public relations for Literacy Volunteers of New York City (now Literacy Partners).
Ungerer spent more than ten years with the Committee for Economic Development, a non-profit, nonpartisan research and educational organization of top 250 corporate and university leaders, following a one-year stint as director of the 1990 Decennial Census operations for 94 municipalities in the northern New Jersey counties of Morris, Sussex, Warren, and northern Passaic.
Ungerer completed a BFA magna cum laude at Drew University after attending Pennsylvania State University. |
