Dr. Russell Dean consults for Noel-Levitz from his position as senior associate provost at West Virginia University. He brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education as an administrator and educator, offering expertise in nearly every area of enrollment management. As senior associate provost, Dr. Dean oversees the academic budget and facilities planning for the university, as well as the strategic enrollment planning. Dr. Dean’s leadership has helped West Virginia increase overall enrollment by more than 25 percent since 1999, increasing the average ACT score as well. Dr. Dean oversaw more than $250 million of capital construction improvements designed to support the university’s academic mission, as well as the creation of a $190-million dollar capital master plan in 2007. Furthermore, Dr. Dean has lead efforts to establish a long-term planning process across different schools on campus, resulting in these individual colleges developing five-year plans. Dr. Dean has extensive experience overseeing academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. His responsibilities included developing a multidisciplinary bachelor’s degree program and a new BS degree in forensic identification. Dr. Dean also strengthened the university’s retention efforts by designing and implementing a summer retention program. He has served on numerous committees at the college, university, and system level, including the Chancellor’s Academic Affairs Advisory Committee.
In addition to his two decades of experience as an administrator, Dr. Dean has also had a distinguished career as a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at West Virginia.
