Russ Elmer General Counsel and Corporate Secretary oversees E*Trade Financial Corporation's legal affairs. Leveraging an extensive background Mr. Elmer provides oversight guidance and direction for all matters relating to the Company's legal and regulatory issues. Mr. Elmer also plays a key role in advancing E* Trade Financial 's long-term strategic initiatives with the senior management team and Board of Directors.
Mr. Elmer joined E* Trade Financial in 2000 as Assistant General Counsel. During his tenure he has also served as the Company's Chief Legal Affairs and Human Resources Officer. In this role Mr. Elmer was integral in enhancing the Company's human resources infrastructure and raising the bar for employee performance.
Prior to joining E* Trade Financial Mr. Elmer was a partner with the law firm Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich where for ten years he represented clients in litigation and employment related matters. Mr. Elmer received a JD from the Boalt Hall School of Law University of California at Berkeley and a BA in political science and international relations from Stanford University.
