Prior to cofounding Lazard Technology Partners in 1998, Planitzer served as chairman and CEO of Prime Computer, Inc. (which was later renamed Computervision, Inc.). During that time, he reorganized the business to focus on high-end computer-aided design software and restored the company's profitability an achievement for which he was named 1995 CEO of the Year by D.H. Brown and Associates. Before that time, he spent 12 years as a general partner at J.H. Whitney, where he established a strong investment record by focusing on early-stage technology and emerging growth companies, including Wellfleet Communications, Inc. (renamed Bay Networks, Inc.). Planitzer is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and is a past director of the National Venture Capital Association. |
