As vice president Worldwide Product Solutions, Russ Newcomer is responsible for defining and implementing the strategic direction for Worldspan’s Fares and Pricing solutions, as well as the Flight Schedules and Availability system. His areas of responsibility within Fares and Pricing include Worldspan e-Pricing®, the company’s server-based fare search technology, Worldspan Rapid Reprice®, the industry’s first automated airline ticket repricing tool and Worldspan SecuRate® Air Plus, the web-based solution for managing negotiate rates. He also oversees product development supporting Worldspan’s airline hosting and subscription services as well as Worldspan IntellicacheSM intelligent caching and availability solutions that support global airline shopping. Newcomer is based at Worldspan’s Kansas City location and reports to Sue Powers, chief information officer and senior vice president Worldwide Product Solutions. Before taking his current post in June 2002, Newcomer served as director Fares and Pricing for Worldspan. In this position, he spearheaded development of many of Worldspan’s industry-leading pricing technology, including e-Pricing, Worldspan Power Pricing® and Power Shopper®, and Worldspan SecuRate Air Net via ATPCO. He joined the company in 1990 as a product development team manager. Previously, Newcomer was a group leader and project manager responsible for reservations development for the PARS Service Partnership, a reservations system owned jointly by Northwest Airlines and Trans World Airlines. Earlier, he served as a technical consultant for Resource One, Inc., supporting reservations system development for United Airlines and Apollo Travel Services. He began his career in travel technology in 1984 as a programmer with TWA’s PARS reservations system in Kansas City. Newcomer holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Business Management from Central Missouri State University. A native of Kansas City, he now resides in nearby Parkville, Missouri, with his wife Marion and their four children. |
