Roy M. Martin, Jr. is president and chief executive officer of Thomson Tax & Accounting, a business segment of The Thomson Corporation and a leading provider of electronic and software based workflow solutions to accounting, tax and corporate finance professionals. Mr. Martin is part of the Thomson Management Committee.
With more than 25 years of experience serving the information services and technology industry, Mr. Martin has led strategic initiatives and held operational roles across a wide-spectrum of businesses.
Mr. Martin was named president and chief executive officer of Thomson Tax & Accounting in 2005. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Martin was president and chief executive officer of Thomson Dialog, where he led the transformation of the business into a leading provider of technical and business information for professionals. In 1998, Mr. Martin was named executive vice president and chief strategy officer for Thomson Legal & Regulatory, where he was responsible for global growth initiatives, international expansion programs, the global roll-out of Westlaw, and acquisition strategies for Thomson’s legal, tax and accounting businesses. While in that role, he helped elevate the group to its present position as the worldwide market leader in workflow solutions for legal, tax and accounting professionals generating over $3 billion in worldwide revenues annually.
Earlier in his career with Thomson, Mr. Martin served in a number of leadership positions across the Corporation’s online and legal publishing businesses. From 1996 through1998, Mr. Martin held the position of executive vice president of West Online, where he led sales, marketing and product management of Westlaw, and was responsible for the launch of westlaw.com and the successful global rebranding of the product line. He became part of Thomson in 1993, as senior vice president, strategic marketing for Lawyers Cooperative Publishing.
Prior to joining Thomson, Mr. Martin spent over a decade in the computer systems and software industry, during which time he was president of two public companies and also held a number of general management positions.
Mr. Martin is a graduate of Virginia Tech, and holds a MBA from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. |
