Rowland Archer is Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Product Engineering for GXS. He is responsible for GXS's technology strategy and all product and service engineering. This includes the development of business integration solutions and customer-facing systems, standards compliance, and technology planning in support of corporate growth. Prior to joining GXS through the acquisition of HAHT Commerce, he was Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as well as one of the original cofounders. He served as HAHT Commerce's President and CEO for three years. Under his leadership, HAHT Commerce became a leading provider of business-to-business sell-side e-commerce solutions. Mr. Archer was named a "1996 Technology Driver of the Year" by Network Computing magazine and a Computerworld Smithsonian Award Laureate in 1999 and 2000.
He joined Q+E Software in 1992 as VP of Software Development, which later became a division of INTERSOLV. He and three other Q+E executives founded HAHT in 1995. Previously he led the development of ground-breaking product lines at Data General, where over a 14-year career he was responsible for the release of several hundred system and application software products including the industry’s first symmetrical multiprocessing Unix, many releases of communications software, databases, computer languages, graphics, and third party applications. Mr. Archer received a bachelor of science degree in Physics from Vassar College and a master of science degree in Computer Science from MIT. |
