Mr. Byers is a practicing attorney at law and principle of the venerable Independence, Missouri law firm of Newhouse, Byers and Swaney. He currently provides legal representation, services and counsel to a variety of small businesses and technology companies, and individuals or business clients requiring estate planning. He was a founder of DSS, Inc., the parent company of Sage Health Management Solutions, and continues to provide the company's legal support and counsel. His law career began in 1974 as a clerk for the late Solbert M. Wasserstrom of the Missouri Court of Appeals at Kansas City. His time at the court was followed by 8 years of practice with the Kansas City firm of Rosenwald and Jacob, before moving to Independence. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he received both B.A. and J.D. degrees. Mr. Byers is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Bar of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar and the Eastern Jackson County Bar Associations. He resides in Blue Springs, Missouri and has been active in a variety of Independence and Kansas City civic and business-related organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, the Independence Chamber of Commerce, and the Independence Kiwanis Club. |
