Ron Johnson, Ph.D., became executive vice president of the International Development Group in 2003, overseeing program development, personnel recruitment, and management of all international projects carried out by RTI International. In his previous post at RTI, he was vice president of education and international development, appointed in 1983. He also served as director of the institute’s Center for Population and Urban-Rural Studies. Before joining RTI, he was associate professor of political science and public administration at Pennsylvania State University. He is an expert in local political institutions, urban infrastructure financing, and municipal finance; has advised in the development of local government institutions such as elected councils in Iraq, El Salvador, and Indonesia; and has performed analyses of infrastructure financing systems in India, Malawi, the Philippines, Poland, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. |
