Mr. Gagel received his B.Sc from the University of Western and B.Comm from the University of Windsor. He is a chartered accountant with more than 25 years of professional experience, predominantly in the natural resources sector. Mr. Gagel received his CA designation in 1981 while with PricewaterhouseCoopers. From 1988 to 2004, Mr. Gagel was at Aur Resources Inc. holding roles of increasing responsibility. From 1999 to 2004 he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Aur, where he played a key role in negotiating the financing and acquisition of the Quebrada Blanca copper mine in Chile for US300 million, which tripled the assets and revenues of Aur. Mr. Gagel joined FNX in 2005 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and is a member of the company’s board of directors. In addition, Mr. Gagel is a member of the board of directors of HudBay Minerals Inc. and Glencairn Gold Corporation, two TSX listed companies, and has been an active member of the Board of Directors of the PDAC since 1997. |
