Roland Dumas is the director of Major, Lindsey & Africa's initiative to formalize and enhance its diversity search services. In partnership with Paul Williams, he provides development and education to search consultants, including consulting services to MLA's clients. He also directs research projects designed to illuminate diversity-related issues that face legal organizations. He provides diversity briefings and assessments for MLA clients in the U.S.
With a B.A. in psychology from Pitzer College (1972), a Ph.D. in research psychology from Stanford (1976), and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Langley Porter Institute at U.C. San Francisco, Roland has a thoroughly disciplined approach to behavioral research. Over a 20-year career providing management consulting services in strategic business process improvement to companies ranging from Fortune 10 to small local companies, he provided analysis to leadership teams of technology, service, and consumer products in Europe, Asia, and North America.
In addition to a broad range of management consulting and research projects, he has served on a variety of boards, including as a judge for the Malcolm Baldrige Award issued by the National Institutes of Standards and Technology program that fosters world class management methods in American companies.
From 2001 through 2003, Roland served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for a subsidiary company of FleetBoston Financial. The subsidiary, Progress Investment Management, has a core mission of improving the diversity of pension fund managers.
Roland is an active participant in various organizations, including those focused on business process improvement, strategic scenario planning and minority recruiter networks. He has served on the board of directors for Ntegrity telecommunications, a small minority-owned competitive local exchange carrier, as well as ETR Associates, a non-profit provider of research and education for public health needs.
Roland lives in San Mateo with wife and two sons and can be seen cycling in the Santa Cruz Mountains and helping winegrowers streamline their marketing operations. |
