Roger Hill has extensive engineering experience with energy efficiency opportunities in commercial and industrial facilities. Roger is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years of experience in the utility and energy industries, including five years with Summit Blue. Prior to his work with Summit Blue Mr. Hill was a contract analyst at New England Electric System (NEES now National Grid) for several years. He then worked at Sieben Energy Associates for seven years where he was Senior Energy Engineer. Mr. Hill has led numerous retro-commissioning and energy efficiency projects and consulted for end-users engaged in performance contracts. His clients include large commercial and institutional facilities and small and large industrial sites, such as micro-chip fabrication, beverage distillery and bottling, grain processing, printing and metal plating. Mr. Hill has published several papers on retro-commissioning. Recent projects include: Led retro-commissioning teams for dozens of independent and utility-sponsored commercial, institutional and industrial facilities which have identified millions of dollars of no-cost / low-cost savings opportunities. Performed LEED1 analysis of energy use for several urban branch libraries. Mr. Hill reviewed design documents, performed pre-construction commissioning tasks, completed computer simulations of the energy systems to accurately estimate energy consumption and costs, and detailed the effects of several design options. Conducted portfolio energy cost reduction program for a large investment property owner. Mr. Hill's developed an energy use questionnaire for 110 buildings and subsequently conducted energy audits at 35 of those sites. Additionally, he developed and implemented a software tool to track weather- and occupancy-normalized energy use to ensure persistence of energy savings identified through the studies. Contributed to several DSM Potential studies for individual utility and regional consortium clients. Work has included analysis of residential conservation and demand response measures including hourly simulation modeling. Mr. Hill has an M.S. in Building Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a B.S. in Engineering and a B.A in Political Science from Swarthmore College. 1US Green Buildings Councils Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a program to advance building technology towards energy efficient and environmentally sustainable design. |
