Dr. Funk focuses on research, training, education and public-speaking iniatives.
Dr. Funk earned a bachelor's degree in agriculture, a master's in ornamental horticulture and a Ph.D. in plant physiology from West Virginia University. He joined Davey in 1973 and was previously vice president and general manager of the Davey Institute.
Dr. Funk developed Plant Health Care, a holistic approach to plant care that has been adopted by the green industry. He researched and designed Davey's lawn care program, developed and patented Arbor Green® slow-release tree fertilizer and developed and patented the Davey Customizer® pesticide metering system. Dr. Funk's research focus has been environmental issues, including soils, fertilization and pesticide reduction. |
