Biography
Rodney J. Bettencourt, CPA has extensive experience in various aspects of the accounting field; specifically, his firm specialty is governmental auditing. Mr. Bettencourt serves specific audit clients in the following areas: city and county government, school districts, refuse management, community health clinics, transit authorities, and special districts. In addition, Mr. Bettencourt has experience in the area of taxation with a specialty in estate taxation and planning.
Mr. Bettencourt graduated from California State University, Stanislaus in 1972 with a bachelor of arts degree in geography; he the taught elementary school from 1972 to 1976. In 1976, he left his teaching position to assume a role in a family business. In 1982, Mr. Bettencourt earned a master in business administration degree and joined Grant Thornton as a staff accountant; while there, he gained experience in auditing and taxation. In 1987, Mr. Bettencourt joined the Atwater, California office of Kemper CPA Group LLP as a senior accountant and was elected a partner in 1990. In 1995, he was appointed the partner-In-charge of the Atwater office, and is currently the partner-in-charge of the Merced, California office of Kemper CPA Group LLP.
