In December 2003, Rodney Adkins was named Vice President of IBM's Systems Group Development, one of the top 40 executives at IBM. He is responsible for a wide range of hardware and software products for IBM's entire server and storage portfolio. Adkins joined IBM in 1981 as an engineer and has held several assignments in the areas of product development, business operations and general management.
He is a member of the Board of Governors for the IBM Academy of Technology and serves as both co-chairman for IBM's Multi-Cultural People in Technology and National Black Family Technology Awareness initiatives. Adkins is an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Executive Leadership Council (ELC). He is a member of the President Advisory Council for Georgia Teach and the Board of Trustees for Georgia Tech Research Corporation.
