Rod Shanks is general manager of International Networks, a leading provider multi-ethnic, multi-lingual programming in the United States. Shanks leads the senior management team that oversees the network’s Asian American channel, AZN Television, and its entire suite of international channels that the company distributes and markets to cable operators in the U.S. Shanks was named to the GM post in December 2005 after having served as senior vice president of finance and administration where he oversaw the accounting, administration and information systems departments. He was responsible for internal operations, as well as for providing strategic financial advice for the company.
Since joining the company in 1994, Shanks has been instrumental in many of the company’s key developments and under his direction, his teams have grown to accommodate the financial, administrative and infrastructure needs of a company whose products have increased from one basic cable television channel to a suite of 15 international premium channels, a Bollywood subscription video on demand service, and the basic channel AZN Television.
Before joining International Networks, he was the controller for Erie County Investments, which functions as a parent company for various enterprises, including a fast-food franchiser (60 stores), a restaurant distribution company, a construction company, an oil and gas company, and several real estate investment companies. Prior to Erie County Investments, Shanks worked for KMPG Peat Marwick, performing audits in the cable television industry and working in the tax department.
