Bob Zik is Vice President of Operations for TECO Coal Corp., a subsidiary of TECO Energy. He is responsible for the operations of the mining subsidiaries of TECO Coal, including Gatliff Coal Co., Clintwood Elkhorn Mining Co., Premier Elkhorn Coal Co. and Perry County Coal Corp.
Zik was hired as a Production Manger for Gatliff Coal in November 1985. He was promoted to Director of Production in December 1989. In March 1992, he was promoted to Director of Engineering for Gatliff Coal and assumed that position for TECO Coal in December 1992. In May 1995, he was promoted to Director of Operations. Shortly thereafter, in July 1995, Zik became Vice President of Operations.
Zik held several positions with Midland Coal Co. and Blue Diamond Coal Co., including Project Engineer, Project Manager, Assistant Chief Engineer, Section Foreman, Chief Industrial Engineer and Pit Foreman. Just before joining TECO Energy, he was Chief Engineer for Stanford Coal Co. (formerly ZAPATA Fuels).
He received a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a MBA from the University of Tennessee. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia. In Kentucky, he is a certified Land Surveyor, a certified Underground Mine Foreman and a certified Surface Mine Foreman. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, Society of Mining Engineers of AIME and a member of the Kentucky Mining Institute. |
